GASPÉ–THE ISLANDS: A LAND OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG GRADUATES involved a three-point program for:

The graduates:

One of the two sections of the Business Succession and Entrepreneurship program is intended for young graduates seeking jobs for which succession exists in Gaspé or the Magdalen Islands. The Foundation offers a relocation allowance of $2,000 to graduates it accepts into the program.

The Employment and Development program is intended for young graduates seeking work in Gaspé or the Magdalen Islands, and for employers in the region seeking employees to fill development-related positions within their businesses or organizations. The Foundation will subsidize 50% of the employee’s gross salary, to a maximum of $10,000. In addition, it offers graduates hired for such positions a relocation allowance of $2,000.

The employers:

The Employment and Development program is intended for employers seeking qualified personnel to work in development-related positions within their businesses or organizations, as well as for young graduates seeking this type of position. The Foundation will subsidize 50% of the employee’s gross salary (up to $10,000) and offer hired graduates a relocation allowance of $2,000.

The Business Succession and Entrepreneurship program is intended for young graduates wishing to work in positions for which a severe lack of qualified persons exists in Gaspé or the Magdalen Islands. The Foundation offers graduates accepted into the program a relocation allowance of $2,000.  Although this program is not addressed directly to employers, it may be a useful incentive to include as part of their recruitment strategies.

The Regional Internship program is intended for employers wishing to recruit interns, who must be full-time students and serve their internships in Gaspé or the Magdalen Islands. In order to facilitate recruitment of interns, the Foundation offers students accepted into the program a weekly stipend of $150 (for up to 15 weeks). An additional allowance of $50 per week is offered to students whose proposed internships are served in the Magdalen Islands.

The entrepreneurs:

The Fondation communautaire Gaspésie–Les Îles runs the Business Succession and Entrepreneurship program, intended for graduates aged 18-25 who wish to take over or start a business in Gaspé or the Magdalen Islands. It offers young entrepreneurs whose business proposals are accepted a relocation allowance of $3,000.

The interns:

The Fondation communautaire Gaspésie–Les Îles oversees the Regional Internship program, intended for full-time students who must serve an internship as part of their training and wish to do so in Gaspé or the MagdalenIslands.  The Foundation offers graduates accepted into the program a weekly stipend of $150 (for up to 15 weeks).  Students serving internships in the MagdalenIslands are granted an additional allowance of $50 per week.
